Welcome to our latest How To Connect Namecheap Domain To Shopify post.
In this post, I will show you how you can go ahead and connect your Namecheap domain to your Shopify store.
So right before we get into it if you do want to go ahead and learn five ways to instantly increase your Shopify sales.
Be sure to check that out and let’s go ahead and get started with the video to connect your domain you just have to come down.
You can come down here to domains and then we just have to go ahead and click connect existing domain.
What you’re going to want to do is go ahead and type in the domain that you’re going to connect.
I’m going to go ahead and just do that and click next and then we can see right here that
We’re going to have to go ahead and follow Specific Instructions.
Because this is going to be from a third-party registrar in this case Namecheap.
So the next thing we’re going to do now is come over here to Namecheap so once you come over to Namecheap.
You’re just going to want to navigate to your domain list and we’re going to just come over here to manage.
Then we’re going to come over here to Advanced DNS and once you’re over here in Advanced DNS.
You’re just gonna have to add some host records
Now you’re probably already going to have some in here I deleted mine just in case you don’t but if you do already have some in here we’re going to be
The first thing we need to do is add or edit the name record
So if you already have a cname record you can just edit it, if you don’t have one you can add it in.
The host is going to be www and then the target is going to be right here shops.myshopify.com.
We can leave the TTL as automatic.
I’m going to click on Save Changes right there.
We’re going to go ahead and add one more record and this one’s going to be a record and once again.
If you already have a record you can go ahead and just change.
This we’re going to make the host at which just makes the host our root domain and then we’re going to put in this IP address right here.
Which is Shopify’s IP address we’re going to paste that in and then click the check mark
That’s all we need to do over here on Namecheap.
If I refresh we can see that our changes are already set in so once we’ve gone ahead and set these two things up.
We can come back over to our Shopify store here and click on verify connection now.
Sometimes it does take a little while for it to verify but we can see that in this particular case, it was verified right away.
So now that we’ve gone ahead and verified it all.
We’d have to click on the domain we want to use and then we could go ahead and click set as primary and then this will become the primary domain for the online store.
That’s how you can go ahead and connect a Namecheap domain to Shopify.
